Wind Conditions: As pointed out by one of our
experienced members, Lake Texoma is large enough that it does not
have the "crazy" lake effect wind shifts. Throughout
the year it presents all wind conditions, with shifts that require
attention for success. You can experience the 25 knot winds of
spring or perform in the 6 knots of summer, but either way you
will be challenged by the racing conditions of the lake.
Racing: Besides an overall winner/fleet award, we will try our best to have at
least a minimum of four classes. The following are the proposed classes:
A) Racing Spinnaker:Boats with rating = or <100
B) Racing Spinnaker: Boats with rating >101 up to 199
C) Racing Spinnaker: Boats with rating >200
D) Cruising Spinnaker (Cruising Asymmetrical Spinnaker, no bowsprit)
E) Cruising: Required Roller Furling Genoa
F) Leisure: (Roller Furling Mainsails)
G) Multihull
H) Dinghy & Sportboats
Note about sportboats:
Henderson 30, Melges 32, Flying Tiger or similar will be assigned to the Racing
Spinnaker class. Open 5.70, Viper 640, Melges 24 or similar will be assigned
to the Dinghy-Sportboat class.
Reverse Start - Time allowance calculation: (important)
From a PHHF of 300, subtract your rating and then multiply the result by the
length of the course. This will determine how many seconds after the starting
signal you will actually start the race. Whoever crosses the finish line first
is the winner.
Award ceremonies:
All our award ceremonies will be held at the next event (Saturday night) somewhere
between drinks #6 and #9.
